Can we get the feeling of ditance through color?

This little apparatus converts GPS data (NMEA) into single colors depending on its location. The departure coordinate is mapped to red, the arrival one to blue. During the trip the colors smoothly melt together while half the way it blinks green.

More than trying to reduce complex data to something more readable or sensual, this simple example demonstrates the ability of objects to behave differently and to adapt themselves to any environment we put them in.
